Hispanic Culture In Houston: El Cuarto Dia: Un dia lleno de cultura y aventuras

Hoy fue un día muy divertido, tuvimos muchos presentadores, y muchas actividades divertidas. La primera actividad del día fue la presentación de la arquitecta Rocio Díaz. Nos vino a hablar acerca de el arquitecto mexicano Luis Barragán. Nos habló de su vida, de su arquitectura, de sus inspiraciones, y en el contexto en el que nació. Nos habló de todas las experiencias que tuvo que pasar el, y como invirtió esas experiencias en su trabajo. La arquitecta Rocio Díaz estaba un poco preocupada porque pensaba que los niños del grupo hispano no iban a entender su presentación, pero estaba en lo incorrecto. Todos los niños entendieron lo que estaba diciendo. Después de la presentación nos fuimos todos a la cocina a cocinar. Yo hice el agua de tamarindo y el chocolate abuelita. Quedó delicioso. Otros cocinaron la salsa de molcajete, y otros el chorizo con cebolla y Chile verde. La maestra Novak también nos hizo unas quesadillas buenísimas. También estábamos haciendo frijoles pero no estaban listos. Después de comer fuimos a hacer piñatas. Habían tres grupos haciendo piñatas, y al final terminamos tres. Estuvo súper divertido pero muy sucio. Las piñatas son una gran parte de la cultura hispana, y me parece muy padre que otras culturas aprendan de la nuestra. Después de las piñatas, nos vino a hablar Don Miguel. El nos habló de su vida, de su trabajo, y de cómo cambió su vida cuando se vino a los Estados Unidos de Guatemala. Nos platicó de cómo se vino, y nos contó muchas historias interesantes. Ayer todos aprendimos muchas cosas, y espero que sigamos aprendiendo más durante los demás días.

Today was a really fun day, we had lots of presenters, and lots of fun activities. The first activity of the day was the presentation of the architect Rocio Diaz. We came to talk about the Mexican architect Luis Barragán. He told us about his life, his architecture, his inspirations, and the context in which he was born. He told us about all the experiences that he had to spend, and how he invested those experiences in his work. The architect Rocio Diaz was a little worried because she thought that the children of the Hispanic group were not going to understand her presentation, but she was wrong. All the children understood what he was saying. After the presentation we all went to the kitchen to cook. I made the tamarind water and the chocolate granny. It was delicious. Others cooked the molcajete sauce, and others the chorizo with onion and green chile. Teacher Novak also made us some really good quesadillas. We were also making beans but they were not ready. After eating we went to make piñatas. There were three groups making piñatas, and in the end we finished three. It was super fun but very dirty. Piñatas are a big part of the Hispanic culture, and I think it is very important that other cultures learn from ours. After the piñatas, Don Miguel spoke to us. He told us about his life, his work, and how his life changed when he came to the United States of Guatemala. He told us how he came, and told us many interesting stories. Yesterday we all learned many things, and I hope we continue to learn more during the other days.
